Graduate Interaction Design (MDes) - Design Dialogues

Thursday, July 16, 2026 at 5:00 PM until 6:00 PMPacific Daylight Time UTC -07:00

Join Julian Scaff (Associate Chair, Graduate Interaction Design), and Todd Masilko (Chair, Interaction and Media Design Practices), in a discussion of the evolving role of Interaction Design in a time of rapid change in the digital product development landscape.

In the age of generative AI, the interaction designer’s most important proficiencies become:

    • Judgement, ethics, and taste
    • Sense-making (synthesizing ambiguous information into coherent design decisions)
    • Strategic and systems level thinking
    • Cognitive sovereignty (analog practices to preserve cognitive capacity and authorship)
    • AI fluency
    • Continuous learning and retooling

Join us as we share recent experiences and industry insights from the perspective of the Interaction Design program at ArtCenter College of Design. The second half of the hour is set aside for Q&A and discussion.   We look forward to a lively dialogue.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
